What is SoftWave Tissue Regeneration Therapy?
SoftWave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses electro-hydraulically generated sound waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing process. During treatment, sound waves are delivered to areas of tissue that may be contributing to pain, dysfunction, or delayed healing.
Tenderness or sensitivity during treatment helps identify tissue that may be under stress or not functioning optimally.
The sound waves create a controlled mechanical stimulus at the cellular level. This process:
Helps disrupt dysfunctional or scarred tissue
Reduces oxidative stress around the cell membrane
Signals the body to initiate a healing response without damaging tissue
Decreases inflammation and pain in the treated area
Rather than creating injury, the treatment encourages the body to recognize the area as needing repair and to respond naturally.
What Happens in the Body?
Research suggests that SoftWave therapy can stimulate the body’s own stem cells within approximately 45 minutes of treatment. Stem cells play an important role in tissue repair by:
Supporting regeneration of damaged tissue
Attracting additional helper and repair cells
Facilitating longer-term healing at the cellular level
This process unfolds over time, with repair and remodeling continuing well beyond the treatment session itself.
Typical Treatment Course & Expected Progress
While individual responses vary, research and clinical experience suggest:
After approximately 3 treatments, many patients experience a 60-75% reduction in pain
After 5-6 treatments, stem cell activity is thought to reach its peak
Tissue repair and remodeling may continue for 8-12 weeks after the final session
Clinical research reports success rates for musculoskeletal conditions ranging from 65-91%.
What You May Notice After a Session
First 15-20 hours:
Decreased pain and swelling
Improved circulation
Increased range of motion
Ongoing healing:
The most meaningful tissue regeneration occurs over the next 8-12 weeks as repair cells migrate to the treated area.
After-Treatment Guidelines
To support optimal outcomes following a session:
Do not ice the treated area
Avoid anti-inflammatory medications such as Advil or ibuprofen unless otherwise directed
Rest for the next 2-3 days
Avoid rigorous or high-impact exercise the day after treatment, even if symptoms feel significantly improved
Although some improvement may be felt quickly, the body has initiated a healing process that benefits from reduced stress to the treated area.
If you have questions about whether this treatment is appropriate for you, or about what to expect as part of your care plan, please discuss them with your provider.

Pelvic Patient
I am a patient at The Pelvic Model and started the Softwave Therapy several weeks ago. I'm addition to the amazing progress I have seen my body improve upon through my regularly scheduled sessions, with the addition of the Softwave Therapy, there was an undeniable leap in pain and discomfort relief in my low back. I was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease in 2018 and for the first time since then, even after many years of different kinds of physical therapy modalities, I feel actual space and relief between my discs again. I can jog again without experiencing stiffness or sciatica. I have much more comfort at rest. I have recommended pelvic floor physical therapy to many friends and now I include a recommendation for Softwave Therapy.
