The Pelvic Module: A Personalized Path Back to Feeling Like Yourself
At The Pelvic Model, we do not believe pelvic therapy should be one-size-fits-all.
Your symptoms, your body, your history, and your goals are unique. Maybe you are dealing with pelvic pain, leaking, pressure, constipation, pain with sex, postpartum symptoms, or difficulty getting back to exercise. Maybe you have been told everything is “normal,” but you know something still does not feel right.
Our goal is not just to give you a list of exercises and send you on your way. We want to help you understand what is happening in your body, feel more comfortable in it, and get back to the things that matter to you.
That is why we use a framework called The Pelvic Module. It gives us a clear path for treatment while allowing every plan of care to be tailored to the person in front of us.
1. Understand Your Body
The first step is understanding your full story.
In your first visit, or sometimes over your first few visits, we take the time to listen. We want to understand what has been going on, how your symptoms affect your life, what you have already tried, and what you want to get back to doing.
Then, we assess more than just the place where you feel pain or discomfort. The pelvic floor does not work alone. It is connected to your breathing, core, hips, back, nervous system, posture, and the way you move through everyday life.
That means we look at the bigger picture: how your body moves, where you may be holding tension, how you manage pressure, and what may be contributing to your symptoms.
We want you to leave with a better understanding of your body and understand what is contributing to what you’re experiencing.
2. Calm Pain and Tension
When you have been dealing with pain, pressure, tightness, or irritation for a while, your body can become protective. Sometimes the first thing we need to do is help your system feel safer and more comfortable.
This can look different for everyone. Your treatment may include hands-on work, nervous-system downtraining, breathing strategies, targeted mobility, education, or small changes to the things you do every day.
3. Strengthen and Retrain
Once your body is feeling calmer and symptoms are more manageable, we begin building strength, control, and confidence.
This is not always about doing more Kegels. Your pelvic floor needs to be able to contract, relax, coordinate with your breathing, and respond to the demands you place on it. Your hips, core, and overall movement patterns matter, too.
Together, we work on the specific things your body needs. That may include pelvic-floor coordination, hip and core strength, pressure management, mobility, or learning how to lift, squat, run, and exercise in a way that feels supportive rather than stressful.
We want you to feel strong and capable in your body, not like you have to avoid movement.
4. Return to What You Love
The final step is taking the progress you have made and applying it to your real life.
That may mean returning to lifting, running, sex, sports, parenting, work, travel, or simply getting through your day without symptoms taking up so much space.
We build a plan around your goals and lifestyle. We help you understand how to progress, what to do if symptoms come up, and how to keep building trust in your body outside the clinic.
Because the goal is not just to feel better during your appointment. The goal is to help you feel more like yourself in the life you want to live.
A Plan Built Around You
Healing is rarely perfectly linear. You may need more time in one phase than another, and that is okay.
The Pelvic Module gives us a roadmap, but your treatment is always built around you. We meet you where you are, work through what your body needs, and help you build toward the activities and experiences you want to return to.
